Yesterday, my friend and newest co-worker, Laura and I signed up for a 6-week-long belly dancing class and last night marked our first class. I cannot even begin to tell you how fun it was!

Judy, a little Lebanese woman was our instructor, and you couldn't ask for a better teacher!  She was small, spunky and definitely knew her stuff. Before we knew it, she had all forty of us in the class spinning, hip popping and shaking our booties up and down that cafeteria.

It started out with a few more basic moves, and everyone was catching on pretty well, but then things got a little complicated :)

All of a sudden, every move that she taught us seemed to have a little phrase that went along with it.  I didn't understand until this went on for a few minutes, that she was putting our moves to an Akon song!! I'm not kidding... At one point, she instructed us to put one hand on our hip while shaking the pointer finger on the opposite hand "don't be shy girls," then put our hands up shake those, and then shake all around saying "go bonanza, shake your body like a belly dancer." At this point it was pretty hard not to laugh out loud, but it was great.

If I had a little more coordination in my movements, it'd be different- but I don't.  Think Elaine from seinfeld (see right). I'm six feet tall, and have the coordination of a newborn baby.  Just ask the office- they'll attest to the fact.

Stay tuned for updates on the class. I can't wait to see what's in store for next Thursday!
