Music Center, we heard "Boston" coming from the ampitheater as Augustana took the stage. After being patted down by security we got in line with our friends to receive our "ALCOHOL" stamp from a police officer and then into another line for a couple of beverages.
Once we found a spot on the lawn which we liked, we sat down and began talking with the people around us. We were shocked at how empty the ampitheater was. Some friends of our's that go to just about ever concert that comes into Indiana, told us the show wasn't even 3/4 sold out. Unbelievable.
Regardless of ticket sales, the concert was amazing. Maroon 5 is my favorite band and I've loved Counting Crows since the 6th grade.
On the way home my husband and I talked about how it wasn't as packed as we expected it to be. We never even heard ticket give-a-ways on the radio or promotional ads. At the same time, we were happy it wasn't too crowded because we were able to breathe, we didn't have to stand in line for drinks or bathrooms and we were able to even dance. The people who were at Verizon last night were true fans... no sporting event or political moment could keep us away from the music we enjoy!
As summer comes to an end this holiday weekend, I hope everyone is able to take some time to just enjoy the things you love. For us, it will be football, wakeboarding, grilling out and spending time with good friends - and yes, I'm even listening to Maroon 5 right now and I plan on jamming to it tonight too.
Enjoy your long weekend!
